Joseph Rooks is a writer, strategist, and digital community builder with a knack for turning complex ideas into compelling stories.

As the operator of Lexicontent for over a decade, he has helped entrepreneurs, experts, inventors, and investors across dozens of industries transform their expertise into compelling narratives. Specializing in content strategy, operations, and business models, he focuses on how content functions within organizations and how to build systems for producing content that drives visibility, engagement, and growth.

His early career was shaped by upheaval—both in his personal life and the rapidly evolving digital world. While attending design school at Virginia Tech full-time, he was already serving as executor of two family estates when the April 16 shooting shook his community. The weight of it all led him to step away from school to focus on his other responsibilities, but his final class—a professional writing course on pitching stories, getting published in magazines, and getting paid for it—set the stage for what came next.

As print media declined, digital storytelling surged. Joseph had been creating content online for fun since 2002, experimenting with writing, design, animation, and digital photography from high school onward. By combining his creative skills and interest in technology with what he’d learned about selling his writing, what started out as a temporary break from school became the starting point for a 15-year career as an independent content strategist, ghostwriter, and digital producer.

Outside of his professional work, Joseph is a Charity Admin and the Lead Tech Admin for the 8-Bit Community, where he works behind the scenes to organize large-scale fundraising events on the livestreaming platform Twitch. Since 2020, hundreds of creators and communities across gaming, cooking, crafting, and other creative fields have united under the 8-Bit Community banner to raise more than $250,000 for organizations like Starlight Children's Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and The American Heart Association.

He is also an archivist and moderator of the Anthony Bourdain subreddit, where he helps preserve and celebrate the work of the late chef and documentarian as an homage to the influence of Bourdain’s work on his own approach to storytelling as a tool for empathy and connection.

Joseph values independence above all else, refusing to take on work that doesn’t align with his values. His unwavering commitment to ethical and honest creative work ensures he works only with those who share his belief that the things we put out into the world should be thoughtful, truthful, and built to last.
